“These past 18 months have been so challenging for U.S. supply chains. It’s the continuous bottlenecks that require fleets to re-tool and pivot accordingly. But, it's the drivers, the fleet, the warehouses and software/technologies that really keep today's supply chains in line,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “These 3PLs and cold storage providers have collaborated on all facets of their operations to achieve full visibility, complete forecasting, end-to-end leverage and the ultimate in sustainability. The Significance of Women’s Equality Day at The Shippers Group

Posted by Margaret Harvey on Aug 26, 2022

Women’s Equality Day, celebrated every year on August 26th, commemorates the passage of women’s suffrage in the United States. On this day we are reminded of the hurdles overcome by the heroic women who faced violence and discrimination to propel the women’s movement forward.

The pandemic has weighed heavily on working women yet supply chain leaders have managed to maintain and even advance representation of women in their organization. According to Gartner’s 2022 Women in Supply Chain, the survey shows that the percentages of women at first-line managers/supervisor, senior manager and director levels have increased since 2021. That being said, supply chain still continues to have a problem pulling women up to senior level ranking, with women only occupying 21% of supply chain’s vice president and senior director-level positions.

The Shippers Group Volunteers at Books For Africa for Nonprofit Day

Posted by Margaret Harvey on Aug 19, 2022

On August 17th, National Nonprofit Day recognizes the goals and positive impacts nonprofits have on communities and the world. Awareness, research, and aid are able to reach the people around the world who need it because of the work nonprofits do. Therefore, it is so important to support our nonprofits through various efforts such as volunteering, donating, and helping raise funds.

The Shippers Group recognizes this importance, which is why we created our Shippers Gives Back program – our commitment to give charitably through a variety of efforts that help the underprivileged and build relationships within our communities. In conjunction with our Give Back program and National Nonprofit Day, a few members of our team in Atlanta spent Wednesday morning sorting through donated books at Books For Africa. Their efforts not only helped to make sure these books reached Africa, but also reach the right demographics within their communities.
