When you think about the characteristics of a great leader, a few of these probably come to mind: caring, considerate, focused, team-oriented, passionate, communicative, patient, respectful, motivational, and empowering. If you know Juan Sánchez, then you know these are all qualities he possesses. We are thrilled to share the great news that Juan has recently been promoted to General Manager of our facility in Wilmer, Texas!

When former General Manager, Rick Brazelton, made the decision to retire this summer, there was no one better suited than Juan to take over the role and continue the legacy of success at our Wilmer site. For years, Juan has worked alongside Rick at a management level helping to build trust with our customers, improve efficiencies, and develop a strong work culture at the site. Their combined efforts have resulted in numerous recognitions and awards from our customers, as well as internally.
Having worked nearly every job function at the site in his 18 years with The Shippers Group, Juan’s unique experiences and vast operational knowledge have been impactful on the team. He has the ability to motivate and empower his team members daily, always being the first one to celebrate their accomplishments. Juan truly believes in the vision of our company and his passion is contagious.
When asked about his goals for the site and what he hopes to accomplish, Juan responded, “Some technical goals for the Wilmer warehouse are further reducing overtime, reviewing our processes, and creating plans to refresh and improve them, along with increasing productivity. I am excited about finding ways to expand communication not only from me to my team, but from others to me. Additionally, findings ways to strengthen employee morale, increase feedback, and encourage collaboration with employees during monthly town hall meetings.”
We are excited to see the impact and success the Wilmer team will have under Juan’s leadership and have no doubt he will be able to accomplish these goals! Congratulations, Juan!
About Juan
Juan Sánchez was born in Monterrey - Mexico’s industrial capital - and attended the University Alfonso Reyes in his hometown where he studied Accounting. He came to the United States when he was 21 years old. His first job in the States was at a manufacturing company where he worked for five years.
In pursuit of a better opportunity, he stumbled upon Shippers Warehouse when he was inquiring about jobs in the area. He ran into Rick when he was outside and after a conversation was offered a position. Through his passion, diverse range of skills, and hard work, Juan has worked his way up through nearly every position over the years: starting as a Case Picker to Loader/Unloader, Lead Shipping/Receiving, Inventory Control Supervisor, Operations Manager, and now General Manager.
Juan is a proud husband to his wife, Lisa, and father to his 5 amazing kids. He is a Christ follower and has a love for football and soccer, as well as being outside and working in his yard. Juan takes pride in everything he does – whether it be at home or at work – which is well reflected in his commitments and accomplishments throughout his career and life.
