The Shippers Group had an exciting 2019, filled with growth and opportunity. We are thankful to each and every one of our customers, associates, and partners, and eagerly anticipate an awesome new year. Here's a look back at some of 2019's highlights.
Congratulations to The Shippers Group associates in Greta, Virginia for being accident-free for the past 2 years! The team at Gretna has been safety conscious to prevent accident of property or injury to an associate for 730 days!
“We’re very proud of the accomplishment of our Gretna team, and celebrated with a pizza lunch to thank all responsible for this achievement," said Lee Cassada, Gretna General Manager. "I very much appreciate our team’s focus to have a safe work environment for our associates and for our customer’s products."
Customer Service Week is the time each year that we celebrate our Customer Service associates at The Shippers Group. Our Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) work tirelessly to serve and support customers on a daily basis and this special week dedicated to celebrating CSRs nationwide is the perfect opportunity to let them know how much we appreciate their dedication to our customers.
When Tonnie Thompson started working at The Shippers Group in 1974, President Richard Nixon resigned in the wake of the Watergate scandal and Gerald Ford became POTUS. Gas was only $.55 per gallon and a dozen eggs cost $.78. That year the Miami Dolphins defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the Superbowl and The Godfather Part 2 was one of the year's most popular movies. During Tonnie's years at The Shippers Group a lot has changed but one thing that has remained consistent is Tonnie's work ethic and dedication to do his best work every day.
Every year The Shippers Group celebrates our nation’s independence with company-wide festivities around the 4th of July. This is a traditional event that associates look forward to year after year at The Shippers Group. Each location chooses how they want to celebrate -- many enjoying a cook-out of hamburgers and hot dogs, and some choosing a catered luncheon of their associates’ favorite fare.
