A few months ago, we shared how The Shippers Group teamed up with Good360 and the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) in support of relief efforts for those impact by Hurricane Dorian. The Bahamas continue to recover from this devastating hurricane, and it leaves us humbled and grateful to be in a position to offer in-kind support through donations of warehouse space, labor and equipment necessary to receive, store and ship goods.

Recently, the awesome folks at ALAN gave us a shout-out for agreeing to provide the much-needed warehousing for cleaning materials that are being used to help with Hurricane Dorian relief efforts in the Bahamas. Our very first core value tells us that helping others in need is the right thing to do. Integrity drives us every day, and we are thankful to be a position to help during these times. 

At the same time, let us not forget the good work that ALAN is doing year-round:

"Founded in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, ALAN is a philanthropic, industry-wide organization that provides free logistics assistance to disaster relief organizations before, during and after catastrophic events. It does this by bringing the expertise and resources of the logistics industry together with humanitarian organizations so that help can arrive sooner, and each relief dollar can be maximized. Over the years it has coordinated compassionate supply chain services for natural disasters including hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and floods."

In sum, ALAN has leveraged their U.S. ground transportation and warehousing networks to help relief organizations fill in critical supply chain gaps. With the help of their supporters -- whether volunteers, donors, or partners -- ALAN has identified the need, organized the efforts, and although those in the Bahamas face a long road ahead, something that appeared insurmountable has now become a vision of hope and strength.

So, we're sending kudos back to you, ALAN! Your efforts and commitment to provide a solution to those struck by disaster by aligning your team with partners like The Shippers Group who are willing and able to be there when you need them is commendable and necessary.
