The Shippers Group Recognizes National Military Appreciation Month

Posted by Margaret Harvey on May 27, 2020

Declared by Congress in 1999, the month of May is known as National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM). This month serves as a reminder to us of the history and sacrifice we have been privileged to partake in since our nation’s birth. During this month, America gathers around its military family to recognize, honor, remember and appreciate those who have served or who are currently serving.

In specific, we would like to thank our very own veterans:

Wendell Guy, Austell

Scott Goolsby, Austell

Donald DeGrace, Austell

Dale Littles, Wintergreen

Melissa Sotomayor, Orlando

Cliford Bowens, Wintergreen

Donald Gardfrey Jr., Jonesboro

Curtis Riggins, Jonesboro

Rob Doyle, HQ

Robert Marquez, Wintergreen 2

James McClendon, Austell

Kyle Banks, Austell

Efrain Barajas, Austell

Gary Almond, Jonesboro

Silas Edwards, Richmond

Pharis Jackson Jr., Jonesboro

Carl Greear, Grand Lakes 1

Johnny Caldwell, Grand Lakes 1

Air Force

Mark Wallen, HQ

Eric Schreiber, Austell

We also would like to extend our appreciation to Logan Maynard at Austell who served for the National Guard and Kaylum Pritchard at Grand Lakes 1 who served for the Texas Army National Guard.

This month, The Shippers Group keeps our flags hung proudly and shares our upmost appreciation for our troops and veterans. Our safety and freedom are credited to you, so this month and every month, we remain grateful for your dedication and sacrifice.

To join The Shippers Group in showing your appreciation, we encourage you to display your flags as well and thank your servicemen and veterans. To show your support as an individual, there are numerous other ways to celebrate our military this month, some of which include:

  • If you know a serviceman or veteran, or see someone in uniform, be sure to thank them – whether it be through words or small acts of appreciation, like buying their coffee.
  • Volunteer at your local VA hospital or Donate to a veteran or military charity. (Military Benefits provides a list on top-rated charities whose main purpose is to support veterans, military, and their families.)
  • Send a care package to a soldier.
  • Reach out to a veteran or family in need.
