Congratulations to J.T. Schaffer who recently opened the 12^th facility for The Shippers Group in Grand Prairie, Texas in his new role as Sr. Operations Manager.  J.T. has lead the Grand Lakes-2 team to a successful start-up of the facility within a much-shorter-than-usual timeline. Schaffer came to Shippers Warehouse in 2013 as part of a 3 year training program working in all Texas locations and in Illinois for the company. During this time, he worked in various roles including inventory control, picking, loading and supervision.  Upon completion of the training program in 2016, J.T. was promoted to Operations Manager at The Shippers Group’s Wintergreen facility in Hutchins, Texas just south of Dallas. 

What is for certain is there is abundant uncertainty regarding the economic forecast for 2020. The growth rate of real GDP is expected to be less than 2019. According to a recent article examining the U.S. economy's future trends, one-third of economists surveyed in Q3-2019 forecast recession in 2020 with another 30% predicting recession well into 2021. Based on this information, it is safe to say we are in the midst of a slow-down that is likely to continue for the next 12-24 months.

The Shippers Group is right there, where and when you need us. When an existing customer had an immediate need to open an additional distribution operation within their network, The Shippers Group was able to respond quickly to meet their need in Grand Prairie, TX.  In fact, within 3 days of finalizing an agreement with their customer, TSG was up and running in Grand Prairie.

The Shippers Group is excited to start off the new year as the featured Corporate Spotlight by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)! 

The Shippers Group will join primary shippers and receivers of food and related products on February 23-25 at one of the food industry’s most popular events, the Annual Food Shippers of America Conference. This year the conference is located in Orlando, Florida.
