It’s been a busy month at The Shippers Group in Dallas, TX. After almost 30 years at the Forney Road warehouse and corporate offices, The Shippers Group has moved. The move to a brand new 560,000 sf distribution facility which is now home to TSG’s Corporate Headquarters creates a campus environment alongside the existing Wintergreen Road facility in Hutchins, Texas. Located at 1015 W. Wintergreen Road, the new corporate offices and food grade distribution facility is rail served and includes cooler space.  

It’s no secret that there is a workforce shortage in the supply chain industry. As a result, we have had to become creative in hiring, staffing, recruiting and retaining talent. At The Shippers Group, hiring practices include both direct hire and temporary staffing, while after 90 days, temporary staff become full time employees. The Shippers Group is a Veterans at Work Partner with initiatives to fill roles by veterans and military spouses. We are also establishing national accounts with American Staffing Associated partners. Benefits of this partnership are reduced costs to fill, established relationships to improve hire trends, improved safety, standards for hiring, and industry recognized hiring practices.

The Shippers Group is happy to announce another promotion from within the company of Kurt Wenzel to General Manager of their Wintergreen location in Hutchins, TX. Kurt has worked for The Shippers Group for almost 7 years and has worked in warehousing and logistics industry for 28 years. Starting as a forklift driver while in school, Kurt has worked in almost every position as a warehouse operator from pulling orders to unloading and loading trailers, spotting trailers, etc. Upon completion of his degree in Business Administration, Kurt officially began his career in warehousing as a forklift driver and worked his way up the supervisory ranks to General Manager of multi-client high-volume facilities.
