Forklift and pedestrian safety is our goal anywhere or time a forklift is in use at The Shippers Group. The Industrial Truck Association has declared June 12^th as National Forklift Safety Day, and we are using this day to reinforce safety tips! ITA is the leading organization for manufacturers of forklifts and industrial trucks, and their mission includes promoting forklift safety through an alliance with OSHA providing safety seminars and training materials. 

The International Warehouse Logistics Association brings together industry specialists in warehouse operations and 3PL sales to share their knowledge and expertise. Hugh Tait, Senior Vice President of Customer Solutions at The Shippers Group, has served IWLA in this capacity numerous times. He instructs warehousing professionals on topics ranging from sales, pricing and marketing strategy, most recently at the IWLA Economics of Warehousing & 3PL Sales Course. 

Having the leadership and operational expertise to successfully manage The Shippers Group’s Gretna, Virginia facility as their General Manager for the past three years, Donavon Smith has accepted the role of General Manager of The Shippers Group in Austell, Georgia. Donavon brings more than 25 years of experience and leadership in distribution operations. In his new role, Donavon oversees 540,000 square feet of multi-client space and 85 employees serving food and CPG customers. Daily he directs the team in receiving, storage, shipping and value add services such as fulfillment and packaging. 

Dina Garnsey is leading training programs at The Shippers Group as Director of Training and Process Excellence. Dina is applying new ways to help employees better develop and harness their skills. Her focus is on training operating processes and procedures, basic warehousing functions such as receiving and shipping, inventory management, systems, forecasting and budgets. She brings more than 25 years of experience in logistics to this position. She has worked as Operations Manager for Target Distribution Center in retail distribution, Director at Landstar managing warehousing and LTL services, and Director of 3PL distribution services at Exel and XPO.  Dina is accomplished at helping employees discover their own skills and nurturing development through training, goal-setting and accountability.
